Black water rafting

We went to the Waitoma caves today. They are caves with tons of glow worms living in them. We wre scheduled for a tour through the big tourist cave in the morning, which was cool but I will get back to that. We decided we really wanted to go blakc water rafting, so our bus driver stopped at the scheduling place. They were booked until 4 o'cock and that was just nto going to work for us. But they were kind and suggested we go up the road and ask at the information center. When we first asked they were booked until 3, which was better. But it wouldn't work for our driver. We need to leave by 4. So the girl at the desk called again and got us on the noon tour, which was in ten minutes. It was amazing. My two biggest fears are enclosed spaces and drowning. Both of those elements were present in this activity. We changed into our togs (swim suits) and put on wet suits and jumped in rickety old van and started hiking across a feild, with cow pies and everything. There was no cave or water in sight and we were decked out in wet suits. We got to the bush and it started windign down in to the cave. At the entrance they warned us that the stairs were steep, that is an understatement. We got down in the cave and talked about caves and glow worms. There are tons of glow worms living in the cave in Wiatoma. We got to really see them, they are actually lavae, and they are about the size of a match stick. We wer hiking along and then started salking through water til it got to our knees and then we floated along through the cave. We saw a frog, it was pretty entertaining. There were sections that we swam and two water falls. The first one we stood on a little platform and dropped backward into the water. I kind of freaked out. But once I jstu fell back, and was able to see when my contacts refocused, I realized how cool that really was. One of the girls in my group accidently did a back flip. It is a good thing we were wearing helmets. The other water fall we rode a slide over. It was a fantastic and exillerating experience. We all had a blast. Then we net back up with our supervisor Becky and Alicia, and went to our scheduled tour of the big cave. It was lame. There were some cool formations and the boat ride was peacful.
you could really see the glow worms. It was very peaceful, but after our rafting experience it was kind of lame. If you ever go I suggest you go to the big cave and then for black water rafting or skip the big cave altogether. I definately suggest black water rafting. I had fu even with my fears, and we got a great ab work out and there were lots of stairs to help you out to. It was so much fun!
